You’re not just in the business of selling fish, corals or supplies. You’re also in the service business and that of creating experiences. Robin has been amazing providing assistance and information. Gary was super helpful when asked. In fact, most of the staff has been nice and helpful. I’ve been been there countless times and gladly spent money each time on Frags, fish, supplies, water, etc… However, there’s a lady who appears to be in charge who was extremely rude and seemed to be upset about making right on a promise. I returned a healthy anemone in less than 12 hours from purchasing it last week. I was told I’d be given a credit and we’ll figure it out. I also returned a slug that died within 2 days of buying it even though everything else is still alive in my tank and my parameters were good. When I returned, the manager lady seemed bothered from the start to have to help and rude showing how upset she was having to deal with the situation. There’s dead fish in your tanks right now- just go look. I was given a trade of water refills for the slug. I appreciated that. Then later when I asked about the credit for the anemone, the lady manager got upset again and

We absolutely love Barrier Reef! We have two fish tanks, and this is the only place we trust and confidently recommend. The staff always takes the time to answer questions, offer advice, and help us make the best decisions for our aquariums—whether it’s choosing the right fish, plants, or solving a problem. What really sets Barrier Reef apart is the knowledge and care they provide. Every time we visit, we learn something new from Joey. His expertise is incredible, and it’s obvious that he genuinely cares about the health of the fish and the success of his customers’ tanks. I also love supporting this family-owned business that has been serving the community for decades. You can truly feel the heart and soul they put into everything they do. Their passion, honesty, and customer service are second to none. If you’re new to the hobby or an experienced aquarist, I highly recommend Barrier Reef. Boca Raton is lucky to have them!

Checked out Barrier Reef’s grand reopening today and the store looks incredible, totally refreshed with a clean, modern layout and great lighting. The new owners were genuinely welcoming, and the staff was friendly, patient, and clearly knows their stuff, we asked a bunch of questions and never felt rushed or “sold.” The tanks and displays looked sharp, and the fish looked healthy and vibrant. They’ve got a strong mix of freshwater and saltwater options, plus corals, plants, and other aquatic life, and a solid selection of tanks, lights, and accessories to build or upgrade a setup. We didn’t buy anything this visit, we were mostly there to check out the new space and start browsing freshwater fish for a future addition to our tank, but we’ll definitely be back. Bonus points for having RO and saltwater available on tap, and offering maintenance and installation services for anyone who wants help getting things dialed in.
